Project Introduction

Welcome to our project!

We all know our pupil dilates and shrinks (constricts) very often. You might be wondering why they dilate and shrink. Well, according to the research conducted in the past, human pupil size may vary due to the following reasons:

  1.  Brightness
  2. Near Fixation
  3. Arousal/mental effort

But Who knows there might be other reasons too???

With that motivation, we, a research team of 2 went on a hunt for more possible reasons. Upon some extensive research, we found that heat stimuli may cause the pupil to dilate more (10.1016/j.jneumeth.2017.01.005).

Hmmm…. That is interesting!

Well, heat stimuli is external pain. But what about the pain that gets generated internally (technically neuropathic pain)? Pain is pain right?

With that, we started our research to prove that Neuropathic Pain causes the human pupil to dilate more than the normal size.

Okay. cool! But how is that useful? Well, if we are able to find a pattern on how pupil reacts to different types of pain stimulus, we can be sure to give the right treatment quickly and efficiently to the patient.

We will use this page to post our findings, problems and a lot more interesting stuff. To the top right corner you can see different sections. They contain a lot more information than what you saw here. So, feel free to check them out.
